Minister Hassan El-Khatib meets with BAMAG and industrial alliance reps to boost green investment and regional tech ties.

Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Eng. Hassan El-Khatib, held talks with representatives of an international industrial alliance at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to explore cooperation in environmental technology and industrial wastewater treatment, as well as expansion opportunities into African markets via Egypt.

The minister affirmed Egypt’s focus on attracting high-value investments in strategic sectors—particularly water and green industries—underscoring the country’s strategic location, robust infrastructure, and broad network of trade agreements as key advantages for accessing the African continent.

El-Khatib emphasized the importance of partnering with global players possessing advanced technologies, especially in wastewater reuse and recycling solutions, which are crucial to improving the investment climate and achieving sustainable development goals.

Dr. Mansour Eskandar, managing partner of Germany’s BAMAG, a leading firm in industrial wastewater treatment technologies, showcased several ongoing projects with Egyptian partners, including a €15 million treatment plant for the petrochemical sector in collaboration with SAN MISR, supported by European sustainability funds.

Eskandar noted BAMAG’s efforts to deploy European financing—particularly from the European Investment Bank (EIB)—to support climate action and pollution reduction projects in Egypt. He said this creates promising prospects for Egyptian firms to meet upcoming EU environmental standards.

The meeting also addressed opportunities for technology transfer and local manufacturing, in line with Egypt’s strategy to achieve water security and sustainable development.

Attendees included Maj. Gen. Hesham El-Khatib, Chairman of Mawared Industries; Eng. Ahmed Qenawy, CEO of Ferropro and ISPC; Dr. Mansour Eskandar of BAMAG Germany; Nora Helmy, Managing Director of Bosla Financial Advisory; and Dr. Rami El-Borai, Managing Partner at El-Borai Law Firm.
