Halliburton marks 25 years of hydraulic fracturing in Egypt, announces AI platform "Zeus iQ" to enhance production efficiency.
Minister Karim Badawi and Halliburton executives celebrate 25 years of hydraulic fracturing in Egypt and future plans for AI integration.
Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng. Karim Badawi attended a ceremony marking 25 years since Halliburton introduced hydraulic fracturing technology in Egypt, a milestone that has significantly contributed to enhancing oil and gas recovery and boosting production efficiency.
During the event, Halliburton announced its plan to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) into hydraulic fracturing operations in the Egyptian market through its advanced platform "Zeus iQ". The smart fracturing system enables automated control of the hydraulic fracturing process. Sean Stasick, Halliburton’s Vice President of Production Enhancement, gave a detailed presentation on the cutting-edge technology and its benefits.
In his address, Minister Badawi emphasized that increasing production remains a top priority for the Ministry, particularly in existing fields, and highlighted the vital role of modern technologies and digital transformation in achieving this goal. “Every barrel of crude and every cubic foot of gas added to production matters significantly,” he said, affirming Egypt’s commitment to unlocking the sector’s full potential in partnership with companies like Halliburton.
The Minister praised the role of AI and digitalization in enhancing the efficiency of hydraulic fracturing and reiterated the Ministry’s full support for the adoption of such advanced technologies.
Ramie Yassin, Halliburton’s Executive Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa, expressed pride in the company’s contribution to Egypt’s hydraulic fracturing industry over the past 25 years. He commended the Egyptian petroleum sector’s strategic importance and applauded Minister Badawi’s ambitious reform agenda, which he said paves the way for greater investment opportunities.
Yassin reaffirmed Halliburton’s long-term commitment to Egypt, pledging to expand investments and strengthen its presence in the market.
The celebration was attended by Eng. Salah Abdel Karim, Chairman of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), Eng. Ahmed Helmy, Halliburton VP for North Africa, and Eng. Amr Azzam, Halliburton Egypt Country Manager. The event also included a recognition ceremony honoring key partners in Egypt’s oil and gas sector, including EGPC, EGAS, Eni, Apache, Cheiron, Badr El Din, Petrobel, Khalda, Agiba, and Norpetco.
