Egypt’s annual core inflation rate slowed to 13.8% in April 2026, compared with 14% in March, according to data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
On a monthly basis, core consumer prices increased by 1.1% in April, down from 2% in March 2026 and slightly lower than the 1.2% recorded in April 2025.
Core inflation excludes volatile items such as food and energy, offering a clearer picture of underlying price movements.
Earlier, Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced that the nationwide consumer price index recorded 287.9 points in April 2026, reflecting a monthly inflation rate of 1.2% compared to March 2026.
According to the agency, annual inflation for the entire republic eased slightly to 13.4% in April 2026, compared to 13.5% in March.
CAPMAS attributed the monthly increase mainly to rising prices across several food and consumer categories.
